The Key to Overcoming your Emotions (Part 1)




When you think of the word “choice”, what comes to mind? Take a few moments to ponder what the word may mean to you. The definition of a choice is an act of selecting or making a decision when faced with two or more possibilities.


When it comes to building an emotionally healthy lifestyle, we are often faced with the choice to allow our emotions to overtake us or to overcome them. The key to overcoming is choosing to let the Word of God be an anchor for to your soul.


Your soul is your mind, will, and emotions. When circumstances and situations arise that may stir your emotions, it is easy to allow your emotions to overtake you. Sometimes you might want to be angry, depressed, or feel hurt. Or, you can choose to go to the Word of God to see what He has to say about what you are dealing with.


Allow God’s Word to become the center of your being and align your emotions with what the scripture is showing you. The more you meditate on God’s Word, the more that it will anchor you, or hold in you in place.


The anchor of God’s word represents security. He will not allow you to endure anything that is more than you can handle. And when it feels like it is too much, make the choice to allow His word to center you, and keep you.
